Longest of any Steamy East series

The longest of any paperback fiction series to feature "Japan" or "Japanese" is Lone Star. Some 153 volumes were published by Jove Books between its debut in September 1982 and its demise in May 1995. All are by Wesley Ellis, a house name.

The Lone Star story actually beings with Longarm and the Lone Star Legend (August 1982) in the Longarm series by Tabor Evans, another Jove house name. The Longarm series has featured several other Lone Star titles, most recently Longarm and the Lone Star Rustlers (August 1990).

The first Longarm story came out in July 1979. The series was still going strong as of late 2005, when Number 326 came out.
